Salt
Salt is a chemical compound primarily composed of sodium (Na) and chlorine (Cl), forming sodium chloride (NaCl). It’s an ionic compound, meaning it's made of positively and negatively charged ions.

Salt was used as ancient currency: Romans paid soldiers in salt (The word "salary" comes from "salarium"). The phrase "worth your weight in salt" means that someone is valuable or deserving of respect, particularly for their skills or contributions. It originates from the historical value of salt, which was essential for food preservation and considered a valuable commodity. In the olden days, salt was used for purification rituals, removal of hexes, driving away evil spirits, and even in exorcisms. This is also why till this day, people like to swim in the sea, as the saltwater of the oceans can wash away the chaotic ions and energy fields affecting your body. This is particularly good for people who are always around EMF devices during their work and daily lives.

Salt is required for fluid balance and muscle and nerve function. Some of the functions of salt in the body include:

-
Maintains fluid balance
-
Helps nerve transmission
-
Supports muscle function
-
Aids nutrient absorption

If sodium levels fall in the blood, this affects brain activity. The person may feel sluggish and lethargic. They may experience muscle twitches, followed by seizures, a loss of consciousness, coma, and death. If sodium levels fall quickly, this may happen very fast. In older people, symptoms can be severe.

Natural Salts vs Table Salt
All natural salts are basically sea salts. Sea salt is obtained directly through the evaporation of seawater. It is usually not processed, or undergoes minimal processing, and may retain an uneven or darker color, as well as trace levels of minerals like magnesium, potassium, calcium and other nutrients.
Table salt comes from mining salt deposits. Table salt is heavily bleached, processed and refined. Manufacturers then process it into a fine crystal that is easy to mix in food. Table salt does not have additional minerals & nutrients, but it does contain iodine (if artificially fortified). And do not get scammed by marketing gimmicks such as "low sodium salt"or "flavoured" salt. It's just another term for ultra-processed salt!

Many people perceive sea salt as a healthier alternative to table salt. As potassium is found in sea salts, it balances the sodium when consumed as food.

AVOID HIGHLY PROCESSED, REFINED AND BLEACHED TABLE SALT WHENEVER POSSIBLE !!!!

Health Risks of Insufficient Salt:
-
Hyponatremia (especially in athletes)
-
Fatigue, confusion, muscle cramps
-
Heart failure
-
Kidney disorder
-
Underactive thyroid and adrenal glands
-
Diarrhea and Vomiting
-
Overhydration
-
Addison disease
Health Risks of Excessive Salt:
-
High blood pressure (hypertension)
-
Cardiovascular disease
-
Stroke
-
Kidney damage
-
Osteoporosis (excess sodium increases calcium loss)
Potassium can help to counteract the effects of excessive sodium on the body. Drinking water can also help to dilute the levels of salt within the body and re-adjust the body’s sodium-to-water ratio.
