LUNGS

Most of us would think of the lungs are like a pump or a filter, allowing our bodies to "absorb the oxygen in the air". That is also not entirely accurate. If the heart is our motor, the lungs would be the engine. The lungs function as a device to generate electric ions, with the air as the medium, passing in & out of the lungs when we breathe. The electricity generated then ionizes our blood, and via the pumping of the heart, sends the ionized "fuel" throughout the body.

Many people may think that our lungs expand & contract when we breathe, but that is incorrect. Our lungs are actually being compressed, like you squeezing a sponge, by the diaphragm located just below the lungs.
