THE JOURNEY OF SELF

On the river banks, there was a woman called 'Kamma' who threw her newborn baby 'Self' into the river 'Samsara'.
However, the baby 'Self' grew and developed, and finally managed to swim to the other river bank 'Knowledge of Dhamma'.

On the river banks of 'Knowledge of Dhamma ' was a hut called 'Triple Gem'.
The teacher there pointed out a way to a wonderful place, and 'Self' decided to follow this path.
It is known as 'The Noble Eightfold Path'.

Along 'The Noble Eightfold Path' were trees called 'Defilements'. The leaves of the trees are all over the place, covering the Path.
'Self' had no choice but to sweep away the leaves in order to see the Path.

Along the Path were also bushes known as 'Sensual Pleasures', 'Power', 'Fame' and Fortune'.
They bear fruits that looked attractive and delicious, but if 'Self' had gone for the fruits, he would have sidetracked and deviated from the Path.

Finally, 'Self' completed the arduous journey, sweeping all the leaves of 'Defilement' along the way. He arrived at a great city called 'Nibbana'.
"Self' no longer existed. He was given a new name : 'Arahant'.
